Answer: Description of internship program It has been a while when I have done my internship in a pizza shop in Melbourne named Pizza Religion. Over the course of semester, I had an opportunity to work with the reputed pizza shop in Melbourne. I had provided with opportunities to explore the different departments in the pizza shop and overall it was a great experience for me as I attended different meetings, interacted with the chefs of the shop and get their feedbacks. My main job role in the pizza shop was to handle the accounts department of the shop. As I was doing my internship on accounts and administrative domain, I had the opportunity to handle the accounts of the shop and understand the methods of payment as well. Learning from Internship program During the internship program, I had the chance to learn the practical aspects of accounting and administration by handling the invoices and cashbook of the shop. I had learnt about cashbook, financial management along with proper utility of the information on accounting in the organization. I did proper preparation of policies in order to generate correct utilization of funds in the organization in order to gain huge revenues in the future. I had the chance to ensure accuracy of the reconciliation of the accounts of all the payments and deposits that are made by the bank on the monthly basis. Duration of Internship program My internship program was for a period of 12 weeks that commenced from 15/6/2017 to 18/8/2017. As I had full interest in the accounts and marketing domain so it was a great experience for me in the field of both accounts and marketing department in the pizza shop. During the internship program, I was provided with the scope of learning and applying my financial and marketing knowledge practically as well. Problems faced by me during internship program Firstly, there were issues for me in order to handle the financial statements of the company. I had difficulty in managing the cashbooks and bank reconciliation accounts of the pizza shop. I tried handling them but I failed as there were issues in the calculation of the entire profit and loss of the company. Furthermore, I could not handle the marketing job properly as well in the starting as I could not make the customers understand about the different dishes that are available at Pizza Religion shop. However, as the time passed, I had gained knowledge on preparing the profit and loss account along with handling the grievances of the customers as well. SMART Analysis of Pizza Religion To introduce healthy alternatives within the pizza industry as there will be motivational conflict among the individuals whether to visit Pizza Religion or other stores in the area. Pizza Religion needs to implement strategies that will look after the different aspects of the individuals about consuming healthy food items. To create a new image of Pizza Religion as the restaurant chain that wants and cares about their customers in order to keep them healthy by reducing the level of fat and salt from the food items. Pizza Religion needs to meet the expectations of the customers by becoming health conscious and encourage the customers visit Pizza Religion often by relinquishing guilt of eating such food items that are rich in calories and fat. SWOT Analysis of Pizza Religion Strengths Became most reputed pizza shops in the industry within a span of 8 years It is situated in Melbourne airport about 20 minutes of drive Giving home delivery to their customers within 30 minutes Standby generator for facing the power shortage Spacious car parking facilities Weaknesses Site of the pizza shop is weakness of the restaurant as there are many motor shops and car showrooms Customers do not prefer visiting such places often Short term period of existence in hospitality sector Limited room space Expensive costs of pizzas Opportunities Memberships for the business can increase their revenues Proper sponsoring of various local events such as musical nights Introduction of special combo offers for the regular customers Threats Increasing competition Limited market due to recession Increase in labor and food prices Recommendations Therefore, after the comprehensive report on the hospitality sector on Pizza Religion, I came up with few suggestions for Pizza Religion to tackle with the existing conditions of the restaurant and to cope with the emerging competitors in the market as well. Pizza Religion should enhance their business by introducing new products in their menu The restaurant needs to conduct proper promotional activities in order to retain the customers It has to consider the other restaurants in the same area as their competitors Lastly, Pizza Religion needs to introduce and open other outlets in areas wherein there will be strong customer base in the future.
